The Razzia can look back on an eventful history. The neoclassical building dates back to the 1920s when it was built as Zurich’s first cinema, the “Kinematografen-Theater Seefeld”.
It was completely renovated in the 1950s when much of the interior decoration disappeared behind panelling, including decorative elements inspired by Greek myths.
Towards the end of the 20th century, the Razzia was used at times as an adult cinema but then stood empty for many years.
Ledermann Immobilien took responsibility for the dilapidated building in 2007, and from then until the start of renovations the Razzia was used under its direction as a pop-up venue for cultural events.
